Urban Parks, Forestry and Street Maintenance provides for park and grounds maintenance activities for over 1200 acres and 85 sites of City-owned formally developed and undeveloped parkland. Work activities associated with this program include native vegetation management, turf management, irrigation management, pest management, maintenance of outdoor-oriented recreation facilities, minor construction and litter control.

REGIONAL PARKS & GOLF COURSES

GREEN MOUTAIN PARK

Green Mountain Park is the second largest park located in Morrison, covering approximately 2400 acres of open space. This great park is easily accessible from Conifer, and is open to all users at no fee.

The steep terrain includes a challenging system of multiple-use trails and breathtaking views of the Metropolitan Denver area and the dramatic Front Range of the Rocky Mountains from the 6800-foot summit. Three peaks above 14,000 feet also are viewable. The park provides a unique venue in an urban setting for many recreational opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and paragliding. It is located on the far Western edge of the City of Evergreen at the edge of the foothills between US 70 and Colorado C470.

Three main trailheads provide parking and access to the park. These are located on West Alameda Parkway at West Florida Drive and West Utah Avenue and at Rooney Road a half mile north of Alameda Parkway. There are two main trails: a 6.4-mile Green Mountain Trail Loop and the 3.1-mile Hayden Trail Loop. The park is open all year. Park hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Regulations

  • Motorized vehicles are prohibited outside of designated parking areas.

  • Camping, hunting, and trapping are prohibited.

  • Fire and fireworks are prohibited.

  • Firearms and other projectile devices are prohibited.

  • Pets must be kept on leash at all times.

  • Removal of any element of the park, including vegetation, rocks or artifacts is prohibited without special permission.

Mountain roller blades are not permitted in the Park.

BEAR CREEK LAKE PARK

Bear Creek Lake Park is the largest of Evergreen's more than 80 parks at approximately 2600 acres. It is unique as a city park since it offers multiple picnic sites; camping; a large fishing lake, stocked regularly with trout; horseback riding; many bike trails, both dirt and paved; hiking trails; boating, swimming, and wind surfing; and a water-skiing concession during the summer months.

The park entrance is at 15600 West Morrison Road, a quarter-mile east of the C-470 freeway near Morrison and Red Rocks Park.

Located near the foothills to the Rocky Mountains, Bear Creek Lake Park boasts the presence of many kinds of wildlife, such as coyotes, deer, prairie dogs, and a multiplicity of birds. Occasionally, elk, bald eagles, and a variety of waterfowl also visit the park.

The uniqueness of Bear Creek Lake Park as a recreational facility in an urban setting is enhanced by numerous other activities offered as part of the reasonable entrance fees., as explained in better detail in the following paragraphs.

FOX HOLLOW GOLF COURSE

The Fox Hollow Golf Course is operated by the City of Evergreen and is located at 13410 W. Morrison Road. Players arriving on Interstate C470, east or west will take the Morrison Road exit approximately 3.5 miles to the east. Those players arriving on Kipling, north or south, will find Fox Hollow 1/2 miles west of Kipling on Morrison Road, on the south side of the street.

The 27-hole championship facility features three unique 9-hole courses. Each course, giving the golfer a different look and challenge.

The green fees at Fox Hollow are based on residency within Jefferson County. Each resident will pay $35 per 18 holes. Carts are available for $7 per rider for 9 holes, or $13 per rider for 18 holes, each cart fee based on double occupancy. Fox Hollow will also offer reduced rates for junior and senior golfers, Monday through Thursday.

GOLF LESSONS
Fox Hollow golf course will be offering spring, summer and fall lesson programs. These programs will include instruction for all ages and abilities. These lessons are taught by qualified PGA professionals and are available by appointment.

The "adult golf clinic" program at Fox Hollow will run from early April through mid-September. This program will feature a series of five one-hour beginning lessons and includes practice balls and equipment. These lessons are available for golfers ages 18 and above.

Junior golf school will also begin in June and will run through late July. This school will be for junior golfers ages 6 through 18. This is a great way to introduce your children to the game of golf.

Private lessons are also taught by qualified PGA professionals. Fees start at $30 per 1/2 hour and $150 for a series of six 1/2 hour lessons. Please call 303-986-7888 and ask one of our professional staff about fees and registration for any of the programs listed above.

HOMESTEAD GOLF COURSE

The Homestead is a unique golf course, a bridge between a championship and an executive golf course, offering several sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. The Homestead measures over 5,000 yards, a par 65 with an elevation change of over 200 feet on the course. The links-style course features eight par 3's, nine par 4's and one par 5.

The Homestead Golf Course was designed to resemble a working cattle ranch, from the windmill to the cart barn, rustic tee markers, pump house, and log fencing. The Homestead Grill restaurant and a fully-stocked pro shop offer first-class customer service. There is a complete practice facility with a driving range, target greens, putting greens and a practice sand trap.

The Homestead offers two different types of terrain. The Mountain Nine course plays in the bowl of Mt. Carbon, once a carbon mine from W.W.II. The course is surrounded by spectacular vistas of Denver. Throughout the course enjoy quiet streams and tranquil lakes. Be sure to catch the 360 degree view from the tee box on the #13 hole.

The Prairie Nine course offers gentle rolling hills, part of the former Fehringer cattle ranch. Abundant wildlife and pleasant views of the course can be seen from elevated tee boxes.

The Homestead is designed to accommodate golfers as well as recreational bikers on their way to Bear Creek Lake Park.
